About
Born in Como in 1996, Gianluca Morini is an Italian photographer who began his practice as a self-taught artist at the age of eighteen. Alongside his undergraduate studies in Medicine, he developed his early research projects, exhibiting in various venues within his native province.
In 2018, his work was presented at the Centro Culturale Candiani (Mestre), in conjunction with Yuri Catania’s exhibition No Fashion Places for America. On that occasion, he was awarded first prize ex aequo with Riccardo Bertoia in the contest Insegne: Parole e Immagini d’Italia. In 2019, he received third place in the photography section of the Premio Nocivelli.
His work has been included in several national and international publications. Morini’s research focuses on the observation of territory and urban environments, with particular attention to the relationships between landscape and its inhabitants. His practice examines the transformations of contemporary spaces through a documentary approach, investigating how human presence, infrastructure, and everyday elements contribute to shaping the identity of place and its inhabitants, while also reflecting, in a subtle and concise way, an unconscious and collective landscape not merely as a question of geographical anthropology, but as a deeply personal relationship with the periphery, the outskirts, the in-between zones that resist easy definitions.
